From coast to coast, here are five must-take road trips for FC Dallas fans in 2026, featuring great cities, stadiums, and matchday experiences.

If you’re anything like me, the release of the MLS schedule last month immediately had you scanning dates and circling road games that could double as a long weekend in 2026. After all, that’s half the fun of being an FC Dallas fan — finding the away trips that offer more than just 90 minutes of soccer, especially in a season loaded with travel-friendly matchups.

With that in mind, there are a handful of trips that stand out above the rest. Whether it’s iconic stadiums, great cities, or matchday atmospheres worth the mileage, these five road trips offer the best combination of soccer and experience for FC Dallas fans in 2026. If you’re only picking one or two trips to make this year, start here.

DC United

April 4, 2026 - Audi Field

A perfect excuse to pair a marquee match with world-class museums, walkable neighborhoods, and one of the best food scenes on the East Coast. Going to the nation’s capital in early spring is actually a win for me. You should see some Cherry Blossoms out, and the weather shouldn’t be too swampy like you’d get in the summer there.

The last time Dallas went to Audi Field, it was a high-scoring affair, with FC Dallas coming out on top 4-3.

New York Red Bulls

May 2, 2026 - Sports Illustrated Stadium

Because nothing says “away day” like watching FC Dallas in the biggest city in the country and then disappearing into pizza, bars, and chaos until 2 a.m.

Still, trips to the Big Apple…or…New Jersey hasn’t exactly been great for Dallas over the years. But, I still find Sports Illustrated Stadium (which is stupidly weird to type out instead of Red Bull Arena) to be one of the nicer stadiums in MLS, and one that is worth crossing off your stadium list.

Unfortunately, Dallas hasn’t had a ton of success in this stadium since it opened in 2010. They’ve gone a dismal 0-5-4, including a 2-1 loss in their last regular-season visit there in 2024.

FC Dallas history in New York: Despite the winless record in their current venue, Dallas owns a 8-14-3 record against the Red Bulls in the Big Apple.

San Diego FC

July 25, 2026 - SnapDragon Stadium

With San Diego, you get sun, beaches, tacos, craft beer, and a fairly new MLS experience. This one feels less like a road trip and more like cheating.

Yes, the first visit there a year ago was forgettable. The good news now is that Dallas has more film on this San Diego team, and I still fully expect them to have more of a sophomore slump this season than what we saw in their expansion year.

St. Louis CITY SC

August 30, 2026 - Energizer Stadium

St. Louis is close, affordable, loud, and hostile in the best possible way. It is the ideal “quick hit” road trip with some emerging rivalry energy.

Since St. Louis came into MLS, Dallas is still looking for their first win away against the Gateway City club. Two of the last three meetings against them have seen a Dallas goalkeeper pick up a red card in the first half. At some point, that weird trend will end for Dallas in St. Louis, and they’ll get a victory. I think this could be the year.

Charlotte FC

October 10, 2026 - Bank of America Stadium

Charlotte is becoming an underrated soccer city with a legit atmosphere, an easy downtown setup, and enough breweries to make the trip worth it even before kickoff.

The two clubs don’t have a deep history against one another. There is one Leagues Cup game in 2023, and that is it. This will be the first time that Dallas plays a regular-season game in the State of North Carolina, too.

Charlotte has been pretty strong at home since coming into MLS, going 38-15-15 since joining MLS.

Others worth considering:

Austin & Houston - Both are drivable. Which is always a plus. Also, the whole Copa Tejas thing is still worth enjoying away from home.

Anything Cascadia - If you can squeeze a trip to Portland, Seattle, or Vancouver into your calendar this year, it will be worth it.
