FC Dallas is going back to the MLS Cup Playoffs!
Osaze Urhoghide and Kaick were the unlikely goal scorers for FC Dallas in their 2-1 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday night. The win clinched FC Dallas a playoff spot and gave them their fifth road win of the 2025 season.
Dallas put some early pressure on the Whitecaps and eight minutes into the match, Sam Sarver was brought down on a counter attack by Mathias Laborda. The center official originally issued Laborda a yellow card, but after a view review, it was determined that he denied Sarver of a clear goal scoring opportunity and was issued a straight red.
A few minutes later, FC Dallas gained the lead off a Patrickson Delgado corner kick. Delgado curled a ball into the penalty area where Osaze Urhoghide was able to easily beat a Vancouver defender at the near post to score his second goal of the season.
The lead didn’t last long for Dallas. In the 26th minute, Lalas Abubakar failed to clear a ball in his defensive end. Emmanuel Sabbi took a touch on the ball into the penalty area. Abubakar tried to win the ball back from Sabbi but in the process he brought him down. Thomas Muller stepped up to the penalty kick and tied the game up.
Two minutes into the second half, FC Dallas regained the lead thanks to Kaick's second goal of the season. Sebastien Ibeagha played a long ball down the right side of the field where Shaq Moore was able to get on the end of it. Moore sent a low cross into the middle of the penalty box that made its way to Sam Sarver. The Dallas rookie laid the ball off at the top of the six yard box for Kaick, who hammered home the game-winner.
Vancouver pushed for an equalizer down the stretch multiple times and had their best chance in the 75th minute when Jeevan Badwal forced Michael Collodi to make a diving save to keep Dallas in the lead.

Instant Reaction: It still seems like a shock to me that this club is going back to the playoffs, let alone the fact that they're avoiding the Wild Card game next Wednesday. Despite the man advantage for the majority of the match, Vancouver was still the more aggressive team as they had the lion share of the ball (70% to Dallas' 30%). But the chances that Dallas was able to create did enough on the night, while Michael Collodi came up big when he needed to in goal.
About the Subs: Manager Eric Quill had to go to his bench in the first half as Patrickson Delgado picked up a knock. In the 33rd minute, he subbed on Pedrinho for Delgado.
Man of the Match: Gotta be Michael Collodi and the five saves he had on the night to preserve the win.
Where does this fit into the season: Well, a win on Decision Day clinched a playoff spot for this FC Dallas squad. It doesn't get any better than that.
What’s next for FC Dallas: Dallas wraps up the regular season with its biggest win to date and will now get the Vancouver Whitecaps in a Best-of-Three series in the first round of the playoffs.
