FC Dallas looked to be on its way to a three-game winning streak on Saturday night, but St. Louis CITY SC had other ideas.
After a quiet first half from both sides, Dallas struck quickly, three minutes into the second half when Petar Musa sprung and open Deedson behind the St. Louis defense. The Haitian international took a touch before putting home his first goal in a Dallas uniform.
About ten minutes later, St. Louis tied the game up as Dallas failed to clear out a set piece as Daniel Edelman collected the ball outside the penalty area. He sent a curling ball into the area where Timo Baumgartl was waiting for an open chance at the back post.
Dallas pushed for more, finishing the night with 11 shots and three on target, while goalkeeper Michael Collodi came up with four saves to preserve the point. In the end, it was another night where Dallas had its moments but couldn’t quite do enough to turn it into three points.
Key Moments
21’ - Big save! St. Louis gets a quick counter attack. Marcel Hartel got free inside the Dallas penalty area. Nolan Norris came over to make a stop and forced a shot from a bad angle that Michael Collodi stopped for a corner kick.
49’ - GOAL!! Deedson scored his first goal off a quick transition in the midfield. Petar Musa played the ball behind the St. Louis defense where Deedson was wide open. The Haitian attacker took a touch into the penalty area before firing a shot the took a deflection and before finding the back of the net.

Instant Reaction
After three straight games with a lot of scoring, the Dallas attack went a bit quiet tonight against a St. Louis team that was difficult to breakdown and get through into the attacking end. I felt that this was a potential trap game for the club and at moments in the first half, it felt like Dallas was going to give up a cheap or easy goal (though, that came in the second half).
I have a feeling when watching this one back, Dallas is going to feel this was a missed opportunity.
About the Subs
In the 35th minute, Dallas had to go to their bench when Ramiro collided with Sergio Cordova. Kaick came on as Ramiro was charted off. Midway through the second half, Eric Quill went to his bench again for three subs, as he brought on Herman Johansson, Santiago Moreno and Joaquin Valiente for Deedson, Patrickson Delgado and Logan Farrington. The final Dallas sub came in the 83rd minute, when Ran Binyamin came on for Chris Cappis.
Man of the Match
I think we have to go with Musa on the night. His passing was at a different level in the attack. His play to win the ball on the lone Dallas goal, as well as the pass to Deedson.
Where does this fit into the season
For now, this draw is going to keep Dallas in sixth place in the Western Conference, on 12 points. Three points would have likely pushed Dallas into at least a tie for 4th place.
What’s next for FC Dallas
Dallas remains at home for two more games, as they host the LA Galaxy next Saturday.
