FC Dallas picked up a much-needed point on the road Wednesday night as they drew the San Jose Earthquakes 2-2.
Petar Musa added his eighth and ninth goals of the season to help FC Dallas snap a four-game losing streak.
The hosts got on the board first with a goal from Ian Harkes in the 21st minute. The Quakes played the ball around the penalty box a bit with Harkes finding Rodriguez, who attempted a shot from distance but was blocked. Josef Martinez collected the ball and played it back out to Harkes, who ripped a shot past Maarten Paes.
Dallas had a couple of attempts to tie the game up before halftime. But it was Musa who tied the game up three minutes into first-half stoppage time. Patrickson Delgado was played a ball through on a counterattack. He hit a shot that ringed off the crossbar. Musa collected the rebound and made sure to put it away to tie the game up.
Dallas had a chance to gain the lead in the 70th minute with a chance from Bernard Kamungo. Musa collected the ball near the penalty area and found an open Kamungo, who took a couple of touches before firing a shot on goal that just missed the far post.
Musa grabbed the lead for FC Dallas in the 85th minute on his second goal of the night on a great sequence inside the penalty box. Ramiro played a quick give-and-go with Logan Farrington before Ramiro found Musa at the back post for an easy tap-in.
Unfortunately for FC Dallas, the late lead wouldn’t last long as the Quakes charged back a minute later on a goal from Martinez. Jack Skahan made a quick run along the left side for San Jose and then whipped in a ball that Martinez headed home to tie the game.

Instant Reaction: As disappointing as giving up the late goal was for FC Dallas in this one, the result was much better than we’ve seen in recent weeks out of this group. Maybe it was Musa leading the way. Maybe it was the change in pace from the start out of this group. Whatever it was, the response was better from this team.
Random Stat for the night: North Texas SC defender Joshua Torquato made his first start for FC Dallas tonight. Torquato became the seventh-youngest player to start an MLS game for FC Dallas at 17 years and 357 days old.
About the Subs: It took a while before Eric Quill went to his bench tonight. In the 76th minute Logan Farrington came on for Bernard Kamungo. And then in the final minutes of the match, Osaze Urhoghide returned from his injury to replace Josh Torquato and Tarik Scott replaced Patrickson Delgado.
Man of the Match: Musa. Hands down it has to be Musa.
Where does this fit into the season: The draw keeps FC Dallas seven points away from the ninth and final playoff spot, with 22 points. We’re 5-10-7 on the season, folks.
What’s next for FC Dallas: The three games in seven days wraps up this Saturday with FC Dallas back at home as they host St. Louis CITY SC.
