FC Dallas continues to struggle at home in 2025 as they dropped their fifth game at Toyota Stadium this season, losing 4-2 to the San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday night.

Dallas spent the final 13 minutes plus a long stoppage time with nine men as Kaick and Sebastien Ibeagha picked up red cards.

FC Dallas got off to a quick start as Musa looked for his sixth goal of the season. In the 16th minute of the match, he nearly recorded it on a counter attack that Anderson Julio helped set up. Musa took one touch inside the penalty box around a San Jose defender before firing a shot that forced Daniel to make a diving save.

Musa wouldn’t be denied on his next attempt in the 30th minute. Lucho Acosta dribbled around a pair of defenders before finding a wide-open Musa near the top of the penalty box. The Croatian took one touch before finding the back of the net to give Dallas the early lead.

The Quakes charged back in the second half with two goals in a span of eight minutes. First, in the 50th minute, off a corner kick by Cristian Espinoza that Cristian Arango headed home. Seven minutes later, Josef Martinez finished a short-ranged attempt off another ball from Espinoza at the far post.

San Jose didn’t hold on to the lead for too long as Shaq Moore tied the game up in the 68th minute. Musa collected the ball near the six-yard box and crossed it back behind some San Jose defenders where Moore was waiting to score his second goal of the season.

Things began to spiral out of control for Dallas after that as San Jose regained the lead in the 76th minute as Beau Leroux picked off a bad pass in the Dallas penalty area from Augusto Alvaro.

Three minutes later Kaick was issued a straight red card for pushing Arango down after a foul was called. A few minutes later, Ibeagha was also issued a straight red card for a foul outside the penalty area.

San Jose added a fourth goal on the night in the ninth minute of stoppage time from Mark-Anthony Kaye.

Instant Reaction: We knew going into this one that San Jose would find chances and when you give up easy mistakes in the back like Alvaro did in the second half, this kind of team is going to punish you quickly for those mistakes.

On the other side of things, when the attack actually pushed forward in this one and played to the wings, good things happened. We really need to see Acosta and Musa build off this performance on Saturday night against San Diego.

About the Subs: Given the double-game week, Eric Quill went to his bench first after the half time break with Bernard Kamungo coming on for Anderson Julio. In the 61st minute, Kaick came on for Sebastian Lletget. After the two red cards, Lalas Abubakar came in for Marco Farfan in the final three minutes of the match.

Man of the Match: Let’s go with Musa. He had a goal and in some was an assist on the night. Possibly one of the best outings for him this season.

Where does this fit into the season: Well, the loss keeps Dallas in 10th place on 21 points. They’re now four points back of ninth place Colorado.

What’s next for FC Dallas: There will be no time for rest as FC Dallas will be back in action on Saturday night when they host San Diego FC.
