FC Dallas wrapped up a three-game home stand on Saturday night with a 2-0 win over the Portland Timbers.
Petar Musa added his 13th goal of the season, while FC Dallas finally found a goal off a corner kick in the second half.
Eight minutes into the match, FC Dallas was gifted a goal as Musa opened up his account on the night. Lalas Abubakar sent a long ball into the penalty area that forced Portland keeper Maxime Crepeau to come off his line to make a stop. The veteran keeper appeared to have made the easy grab, but he dropped the ball right to Musa’s feet, and the Croatian put away the easiest goal of the season.
In the 62nd minute, FC Dallas doubled the lead off a corner kick goal from Abubakar. Sebastian Lletget curled the ball to the near post where Abubakar was able to beat his defender for his first goal of the season.
Dallas nearly had a third goal in the 83rd minute as Lletget picked off a ball into the Timber’s defensive third. After taking a couple of touches he sent a ball to the back post where Logan Farrington was there to met it. Unfortunately, Farrington’s attempt would miss the near post and go out of bounds.

Instant Reaction: To say this was a pretty game would be a bit of an understatement. But, this is exactly the type of game you want to see FC Dallas win here. They took the advantage of some tired legs from Portland, had a couple of good looks on goal, and appear to finally be playing in a way that Eric Quill and his staff want to see.
Random Stat for the night: Abubakar’s goal off the corner kick was the first corner kick goal scored this season for FC Dallas.
About the Subs: In the 61st minute, Quill pulled a double-sub by bringing on Sebastian Lletget and Anderson Julio, for Patrickson Delgado and Petar Musa. Shortly after the second half hydration break, Chris Cappis came on for Shaq Moore. Louicius Don Deedson made his debut in the 87th minute when he came on for Logan Farrington.
Man of the Match: As much as you want to give it to Musa for the early goal, let’s give it to Michael Collodi for his performance in goal.
Where does this fit into the season: With Houston’s result tonight, FC Dallas now sits in 11th place on 28 points. FC Dallas is only two points shy of the ninth and final playoff spot.
What’s next for FC Dallas: FC Dallas returns to the road next weekend when they take on Copa Tejas rivals Austin FC.
