After a week off (and a busy week making moves), FC Dallas is back on the field tonight as they host the Portland Timbers.
The lineups are in for each side, so let’s dive in to them along with some questions.
The XI + Quick Thoughts

Quick reminder, Maarten Paes is out with an upper leg injury, which is why we see Michael Collodi earn another start. In all honesty, I’m all for getting him some minutes here and there this season.
The defense in front of him is intriguing with Osaze Urhoghide and Sebastien Ibeagha in the middle, with Lalas Abubakar and Shaq Moore on the wings. I do wonder if we’re going to see Ramiro slot out wide a bit more than Abubakar and make this more of a 5-3-2.
Now that the club has moved on from Lucho Acosta, we’re going to start seeing a midfield like this tonight with Kaick, Ramiro and Patrickson Delgado.
Up top, we’ll get Logan Farrington, Bernard Kamungo and Petar Musa.
Who is on the bench?
The bench is a fun mix of Homegrown players and newcomers. Newcomers Jacob Jackson will be the backup keeper. Louicius Don Deedson and Chris Cappis also get bench appearances.
Along with them, we’ll see Sebastian Lletget, Anderson Julio, Tsiki Ntsabeleng, Josh Torquato, Nolan Norris and Sam Sarver.
Who should come off the bench?
Cappis, Deedson, Julio, and Lletget all should be the options off the bench with maybe another appearance by Torquato or Sarver late in the match.
Big question for tonight: Can FCD take advantage of Portland’s short rest?
The Timbers have been dealing with the Leagues Cup in the last two weeks, with some big games no less. While they did not advance to the knockout round (the Galaxy knocked them off after some goal differential), they have played a lot of minutes in recent weeks compared to FC Dallas. When you factor in the heat tonight, FC Dallas has to find ways to spread the Timbers out and make them chase the game a good bit.
