The struggles for FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium in 2025 continue. On Friday night, Minnesota United downed FC Dallas 2-1.
Minnesota scored both goals off set pieces while Logan Farrington found a late goal for FC Dallas.
The Loons poured on the pressure in the opening half. In the 35th minute, Carlos Harvey scored the game’s first goal off a free kick by Julian Gressel. Harvey was wide open at the back post where he was able to head a ball into the back of the net despite Sebastien Ibeagha’s attempt to clear it off the line.
Dallas had a chance to tie it up before halftime as Shaq Moore whipped in a ball into the penalty area where Lucho Acosta was able to get an open header on the ball, but Minnesota keeper Dayne St. Clair was able to save the attempt to keep Dallas off the scoreboard.
Minnesota doubled their lead in the 57th minute off a throw in from Michael Boxall that headed toward the back post by Tani Oluwaseyi where Anthony Markanich was waiting to head home and easy goal.
Dallas pulled one goal back in the 73rd minute on Farrington’s second goal of the season. Petar Musa found Farrington at the top of the penalty area where he took a touch to open up some space around a defender before ripping a shot past St. Clair.
Acosta had a second attempt to tie the game up in the 82nd minute. Patrickson Delgado took a shot from outside the penalty area that hit off a Minnesota defender. Acosta was there to redirect the ball onto goal but his attempt sailed over the crossbar.

Instant Reaction: Three straight home losses. Seven home losses on the season. The sooner we fall into the ‘rebuilding year’ mode, the better this may all feel. I will say, seeing someone like Sam Sarver earn some minutes in this one was good to see. The kid showed some hustle and fight that was needed.
Random Stat for the night: This is just the second loss on July 4th for FC Dallas since moving to Toyota Stadium.
About the Subs: Shortly after the second Minnesota goal, Eric Quill went to his bench to bring on Pedrinho and Ramiro for Kaick and Sebastian Lletget. In the final minute of the match, Sam Sarver made his MLS debut as he came on for Marco Farfan. Alvaro Augusto also came on for Patrickson Delgado.
Man of the Match: Let’s go with Farrington. This was one of his better outings of the season.
Where does this fit into the season: FC Dallas is now in 12th place in the Western Conference following this loss. Figuring out a way to get into 9th place seems like a waste at this point.
What’s next for FC Dallas: Next up is a two-game road trip to California, starting next weekend with a match at LAFC.
