All Level: FC Dallas draws LAFC 1-1
Logan Farrington’s fifth goal of the season cancels out Son Heung Min’s first MLS goal.
FC Dallas picked up another draw at home on Saturday night, tying LAFC 1-1.
Logan Farrington scored his fifth goal of the season, while Michael Collodi had five assists to help extend his unbeaten run as a starter this season to five games.
It didn’t take LAFC long to get on top in this one. Six minutes into the match, LAFC took the lead on a free kick goal by Son Heung Min. Denis Bouanga was fouled 20 yards out from goal. LAFC’s newest Designated Player and South Korean superstar stepped up to take the free kick and curled it over the Dallas wall and past Collodi for his first MLS goal.
Seven minutes later, FC Dallas tied it up on Farrington’s fifth goal of the season. After a LAFC defender tried to clear the ball, Patrickson Delgado recovered the ball and quickly played it to Farrington, who took a touch to get inside the penalty area before firing a shot that deflected off Nksoi Tafari and into the net.
LAFC had a chance in the 88th minute to regain the lead on a weird sequence in front of Collodi’s goal. Son sent a cross to the back post where Bouanga was able to get a touch on the ball. That attempt hit off Shaq Moore’s head and Bouanga tried again but his second attempt would get pushed over the cross bar.

Instant Reaction: In a way, there really wasn’t a ton in this one for either side. FC Dallas seemed to run out of steam in the second half and the defense stepped up to keep their big names off the scoreboard. As much as they need the three points, not dropping all three is also acceptable in a game like this too.
Random Stat for the night: Collodi ended the night with season-high five saves.
About the Subs: Eric Quill went to his bench around the 68th minute by taking off Ramiro and bringing in Alvaro Augusto. He then made a double sub in 71st minute when Sebastian Lletget and Sam Sarver came on for Anderson Julio and Chris Cappis. The final sub came in the 82nd minute as Petar Musa came on Logan Farrington.
Man of the Match: There were a few good options on the night, Patrickson Delgado may have been the one for me as he did well to help push the ball forward into the attack.
Where does this fit into the season: Its another draw. But with the other results around MLS tonight, FC Dallas sits four points back now of the 9th and final playoff spot.
What’s next for FC Dallas: Next week’s game in LA was moved to October, so FC Dallas will be off for a week before hitting the road on September 6th to take on St. Louis CITY SC.
