FC Dallas announced today the signing of defender Joshua Torquato to a Homegrown deal through 2027 with options for 2028 and 2029. Torquato is the 44th player to sign a Homegrown deal with FC Dallas.
Torquato made his FC Dallas debut on June 14 in Dallas’ 4-2 win at Sporting Kansas City and became the seventh-youngest player to start an MLS game for FC Dallas at 17 years and 357 days old.
Earlier this year, Torquato signed with North Texas SC. This season with North Texas SC, Torquato has appeared in 14 matches and has scored one goal and assisted three times in 2025.
The Kona, Hawaii, native joined the FC Dallas Academy at the U12 level in 2019. He has competed in the GA Cup (2022–24), Dallas Cup (2023), and Liga MX International tournaments (2023, 2024) for the academy. Torquato attended FC Dallas’ 2025 preseason training camp in Algarve, Portugal, and appeared in all of the club’s preseason matches.

What is intriguing to me here is the timing of this signing for Torquato. I was told after the preseason trip to Portugal that the club was close to signing him to a Homegrown deal then but offered him a deal with NTSC instead to see how he would do there first.
After some injuries popped up this summer, Torquato got his chance again with the first team and FC Dallas manager Eric Quill appears to be a big fan of what he is getting and seeing out of the 17-year old.
“Amazing. I just commended him in front of the group, he just played against one of the best players in the league and didn’t give up much. That’s not easy to do to come out with your first start on the road. I saw it in him when I first got here, and I believe in Josh 100%. I’m really proud of him. You could see him grow throughout the game.” - Eric Quill
At the end of the day, I’m happy to see another Homegrown that appears to be ‘in the plans’ here for Quill.
