This season, I've been trying to take on a different approach to doing stat breakdowns of games. In some ways, I want these posts to be a bit more of a follow up to the full game breakdowns that I do the Mondays following a weekend game.

I talked on Monday about how FC Dallas was able to grind away a result in Atlanta. Part of that was due to how well the defense held up against some of the best strikers the club has seen so far this year. The other part, was some smart subbing by FC Dallas manager Eric Quill.

Today, let's look at bit more on the midfield group from Saturday's game. Until some subs were made, it really felt like that group struggled to keep up with the Five Stripes. Is it a sign of things that need to be changed? Maybe, but it is worth diving into a bit more.

Lletget and Delgado pairing didn’t mesh in Atlanta

There is starting to be a bit of a trend in the Dallas midfield as Quill continues to tinker with his club's formation and how the club plays from the start of a match.

For the second straight game, Sebastian Lletget is largely absent from both touching the ball (27) and passing the ball in the midfield (21/25 accuracy). Patrickson Delgado was a little more active along the left side of the field. He was 28/30 on his passes on the night with 37 touches, one shot and helped create one chance.
