FC Dallas returns home to wrap up the month of March against long-time rivals Sporting Kansas City on Saturday evening at Toyota Stadium. The matchup will be the 75th all-time regular season meeting between the two MLS originals.
Following two straight losses at home, FC Dallas managed to ride a man advantage for 70-plus minutes in a 1-0 win over Real Salt Lake last weekend. FC Dallas manager Eric Quill is hopeful that his club can build off that result but knows that his club has to be consistent for the full 90 minutes in order to secure the club's first home victory in 2025.
“We have to stay focused and really pay attention to details. It is another important game, especially at home. We want to rectify our home defeats," said Quill. "We can’t feel like we have done something greatly important in just getting one win, we have to be consistent. Again, the goal is to climb the table and get to the top. We have to be locked in and focused.”
FC Dallas second-year forward Logan Farrington is the only FC Dallas player to score at home this season, he believes the team has learned from their mistakes earlier in this month as they get ready to host a team that has yet to win a game in 2025.
"I think we put in a great shift against Salt Lake. It was a little harder than we wanted it to be and maybe not as comfortable as we wanted it to be," said Farrington. "Away from home we've been very strong but we need to carry that momentum into a home win. If we can make our home a fortress to go along with how we're doing on the road, it will help us out and we'll soon be looking down at people."
What worked for FC Dallas last week in Salt Lake was a mixture of an early red card for the Utah side and a slight formation shift. Quill might go back to his regular 4-2-3-1 this weekend against SKC but he isn't ruling out a complete shift to the 4-3-3 that he used to pick up a win last weekend.
