The rumor season continues to pick up steam for FC Dallas here in December. Following the club’s signing of U22 midfielder Ran Binyamin earlier in the week, FC Dallas is now linked to a new player ahead of the 2026 season.
Multiple reports, including one from The Athletic’s Tom Bogert state that FC Dallas is close to signing Swedish winger/wingback Herman Johansson.
Sources: FC Dallas finalizing deal to sign Swedish wingback Herman Johansson from Mjällby AIF. Fotbollskanal 1st. Johansson, 28, had 7g/8a in 30 Swedish top flight matches this year.

According to TrasnferMarkt, Johansson is valued at around $1.8m. Once we get some more details on the actual transfer figure, we will pass it along.

Quick BDS Take
While the Binyamin signing was a bit of a head scratcher earlier this week (I don’t believe many of us had a central midfielder as a position of need this winter for FCD), this kind of signing I can get on board with as it does fit some needs of the club.
Johansson has mostly played along the right wing during his career in Sweden. As manager Eric Quill looks to continue to use a 3-4-3 or 5-2-3 formation this coming season, adding more depth at the wings is a vital thing in my book.
While I know the club is hoping to have Geovane Jesus back and ready to go in 2026, primarily as one of the three center backs (yes, you read that correctly), this kind of signing tells me the club is adding some insurance in case they need to keep Shaq Moore as one of the three center backs at the start of the season.
I think it also signals a bit that someone like Enzo Newman, the likely backup to Moore or Jesus at the right back position, won’t be fully ready come 2026.
Johansson will also occupy an international roster slot for the club, something FC Dallas is nearly at its limits for 2026. I plan to dive into the international roster slot situation in a future post.
What do you all make of this potential signing? Are you like me, more intrigued by this one compared to Binyamin?
