Now that FC Dallas is back in Texas, following its preseason camp in Portugal, one of the roster areas that has needed to be addressed before the start of the season was at goalkeeper. With veteran keeper Maarten Paes on his way out to Dutch side Ajax, Dallas only has one other keeper signed on the roster at the moment in Homegrown keeper Michael Collodi.
A new report Sunday afternoon from The Athletic’s Tom Bogert states that FC Dallas is close to landing Canadian keeper Jonathan Sirois from CF Montreal in a trade.
🇨🇦 Sources: FC Dallas is finalizing a deal to acquire Canadian goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois from CF Montréal. Deal worth $150k + $200k add ons. Sirois, 24, made 102 apps for Montréal.

Sirois has appeared in over one hundred games with Montreal since 2023. Last season, he started 23 games for CF Montreal and earned four clean sheets.

Quick BDS Take
With Paes on the way out, the club still needed a roster battle of sorts for Collodi. Sirois isn’t a ‘name’ many in MLS will know right away, but the 24-year old has some good experience under his belt that will be good to bring to Dallas.
Sirois was on Montreal’s senior roster last season, earning right at $275k. He’s signed through the 2026 season, with an option for the 2027 season.
I’ll dive more into Sirois once this deal becomes official, which should be later this week (likely once Paes officially departs to Holland).
