Let’s dive into one more look at the win against Colorado, break down some stats from the match and where things stand for the season over all.

Defense locks down Colorado's attack

Yeah, I get it. I've been using this space to discuss the defensive effort a lot lately. For good reason, too. The FC Dallas defense has been extremely good as of late, limiting teams to fewer chances on goal (minus that St. Louis game).

If you take out the one goal the Rapids scored on Saturday, which felt like a fluke more than anything else, the defense didn't give up a lot of chances on goal. That made Jacob Jackson's night very easy, as he only had to make one save.

The defensive group is holding their shape and the result is starting to be fewer attempts on goal from the other side, and more importantly, mostly attempts from outside the penalty area.

Part of it isn't just the back five that are doing the work. No, we're getting good pressure out of guys further up the field.

Petar Musa had two defensive contributions on the night, Logan Farrington added in two of his own, while Patrickson Delgado continued to be a pest in the midfield with five defensive contributions. Along with the contributions from those three, Delgado also won all of his duals on the night (7/7).

We're seeing more defensive actions further up the field these days, which allows the defense to not be under as much pressure as we saw earlier in the season. When you have a full team playing defense, good things tend to come out from it.
