The offseason for FC Dallas is off and running following the club’s loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps in a Best-of-Three series in the MLS Cup Playoffs.
We’re going to start with the smaller version1 of our annual Roster Building series with a quick(ish) look at how the team is shaping up for next year ahead of the end-of-the-year roster moves that will take place later this month.
In our first part of a two-part series, we’ll dive into the roster build-out2 for the upcoming season(s) for FC Dallas with a look at the defensive group3. (Our midfield and forwards group will come later on either this weekend or early next week.)
Let’s get into it, shall we?
Built for 2026?
One theme that will be consistent throughout the lead up to the offseason moves is that FC Dallas has a lot of player under contract for 2026 and beyond. The defensive group is no stranger to that with only one player (Jacob Jackson) out of contract after this season and four requiring option pickups for 2026.
If you go back to the last couple of season, we would be discussing whether or not we’d bring back six or seven guys in this group, but instead we’re really going to be discussing a handful.
