Following a 2-2 draw on Wednesday night in San Jose, FC Dallas returns home this weekend to battle St. Louis CITY SC for the first time in 2025.

St. Louis looks to score their first win in North Texas this weekend after picking up a win last week against Portland.

Let’s dive into the Gateway City club to see what they bring to the field on Saturday and how FC Dallas can get some points at home.

Get 50% through the 2025 season

Key Player: Joao Klauss

The Brazilian is currently one of the few bright spots for St. Louis this season. He leads the club with seven goals off 18 shots on target, with five of those goals coming in the last five games.

Key Matchup: Petar Musa vs Josh Yaro

One area St. Louis has been pretty good at this season has been their defense is still fairly stout. Yaro has been a constant for them in 2025, too. He, along with Kyle Hiebert, will be tasked with slowing down Musa.

Quick Notes:

Recent history vs FC Dallas: In the short history against FC Dallas, St. Louis has yet to pick up any points in Frisco with two straight losses at Toyota Stadium, including a 2-0 loss in their most recent visit in 2024.

Recent form: St. Louis managed to end a three-game losing streak last week against Portland. Before that win, they only had one win in their previous 17 matches this season.

Comparing the two clubs: Both teams have struggled in 2025, so this one could come down to who figures out the best way to counter against the other side.

Potential Lineup:

St. Louis caretaker manager David Critchley side didn’t have to battle with a midweek match like FC Dallas but injuries have still kept him from being able to start his best lineup this season.

Orozco, Yaro, Girdwood, Reich, Totland; Wallem, Ostrák; Teuchert, Hartel, Becher, Klauss

Keys To Three Points over St. Louis

  1. Handle the press: While this St. Louis squad isn’t as high of a pressing team as the first couple versions, they do still do well at forcing turnovers in their attacking third to help set up chances on goal. Dallas will need to not switch off in their build up play out of the back and limit what turnovers they cough up in the midfield.
  2. Continue to play wide: This one will probably resemble the games against Sporting KC, where Dallas will get the bulk of their chances from getting the ball out wide and working it into the penalty area. This will be key in allowing Petar Musa to continue his current hot streak.
  3. Let the retro vibes kick in: Saturday is going to be all about the Dallas Burn-retro vibes at Toyota Stadium. The team will debut some super slick retro kits on the field and a lot of club legends will be on hand. While the good vibes have been pretty absent at home this season, this feels like the perfect weekend to end those issues.
