It should be no secret that August is going to be a true make or break month for FC Dallas. With ten games left to go on the season, FC Dallas currently sits five points out of a playoff spot in 12th.
FC Dallas manager Eric Quill and his staff know they cannot afford to drop too many more games here, with only four on the schedule this month.
Let's dive into the schedule to see where the points could come and what the expectations should be for this month.
Portland Timbers - home - August 9
It may seem weird that this is the final game in a three-game homestand stand, but that is how the schedule played out here. The Timbers are currently in the Leagues Cup, and will host Club America on Wednesday night. Will we see a Timbers squad that is gassed from playing in that tournament or one that is fresh because they opt to prioritize the regular season a bit more?

Austin FC - away - August 16
One of two road games this month, but it doesn't take us out of Texas. Austin has been hot and cold this season under Nico Estevez (boy, who could have seen that coming?). They haven't exactly been dominant at Q2 Stadium in 2025 either, with a few wins and a ton of draws (4-2-5 as of this writing). If FC Dallas wants to win Copa Tejas, they have to get it done here on the road.
LAFC - home - August 23
At this point, all home games feel like a daunting task this season. LAFC is also dealing with the Leagues Cup, so if they advance out of Phase One, they could be dealing with extra games around this time as well.
LA Galaxy - away - August 30
The last game of the month takes us back to California after the summer transfer window closes up. There has been a lot said this season about how poorly the Galaxy have been without some of their best players, but they are starting to make some strides (they're 2-1-2 in their last five league games).
Outlook
Four games, 16 points on the table. As much as I want to think this could be the month that FC Dallas finally makes a move on this season and gets a lot of points, I don't see it just yet.
The main reason for that, as you all know by now, is the home form. Even playing two teams that are busy with the Leagues Cup right now could play a factor. We haven't seen enough consistency out of FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium to get excited.
The two road games are winnable in my mind, though. Austin doesn't strike a ton of fear in my right now and neither do the LA Galaxy.
So, maybe there is at least six points for the month. Maybe.
I think we'll see potentially four to seven points this month. I'd be pleasantly shocked if they picked up any more than that (which also means they'd potentially go unbeaten in the four games somehow).
