2025 FC Dallas Player Recaps: Ramiro

Ramiro was the Swiss-army knife for Eric Quill in his first season in Dallas.

It is time for another FC Dallas player recap from the 2025 season, with a look at utility man Ramiro.

Stat breakdown

Ramiro joined FC Dallas ahead of the 2025 season. At the time he seemed he would fit the Asier Illarramendi void that opened up after the 2024 season on the roster. What Dallas ended up getting was a player who was a leader on and off the pitch.

Let’s dive into some fancy graphs and charts on Ramiro’s season.

One thing that stands out with Ramiro, other than the fact that he’s really able to play anywhere on the defensive side of the ball, is that he managed to get a lot more progressive passes into the attacking third than I originally thought he would. Was it enough to carry the team? No, but he was progressing the ball forward more and helping this team eliminate their “FC Backpass” mentality that they had previously.

Highlight

No goals for Ramiro, but he did have some solid assists this season. This one in the playoff series with Vancouver still stands out for me, as he helped set up Musa’s goal.

Love that kind of vision in the midfield after getting a turnover.

What to expect in 2026?

Honestly, more of the same I think is what we should expect in 2026 out of Ramiro. He found a way to become the team leader and captain in the second half of the season for a reason. If he can stay healthy and still give Eric Quill 25-30 starts again, I think that is a good thing. He’s not a stat monster, but he’s one of those guys that does a lot of the dirty work.

Final thoughts

I can’t tell you all enough how many times both players on the team and folks at the club rave over Ramiro as a leader. I do think he is the type of leader this team needs right now. He leads by example everywhere. Both on and off the pitch. The younger players know that, as do the coaches.

What I hope is we get to see him help guide the younger players a bit more in 2026. He helped Kaick come a long way in his first season in MLS, and I have to think a second full season for both players will only get better.
