Highlight
Urhoghide had a pair of goals in 2025, both were big ones. I’m going with the Decision Day finish in Vancouver as the main highlight for him though over the goal in Miami. Again, both were big goals, but this one felt massive in the moment.
What to expect in 2026?
If year one for Urhoghide was what we saw, we have to hope and expect that year two is only going to be miles better. As much as I’m sure the club wants to see him at the All-Star Game, I want more than that kind of honor out of Urhoghide.
I still believe had FC Dallas been a slightly better team in 2025, he could have been in the running for a Best XI or MLS Defender of the Year. I think that the mark we need to see from him in 2026.
Final thoughts
I know I was not a huge fan of the signing in the moment when it happened last winter. The timing felt odd, but this is one that I’ve been happy to be wrong about. Urhoghide came into the lineup on day one, literally day one of 2025, and was a game changer for the team.
He was also a big time leader in the defense with his high work rate and take-charge attitude that pushed his fellow defenders to be better.
I’m really eager to see how much growth the club is able to get out of him in 2026.
