Our 2024 FC Dallas player recaps continue with midfielder Herbert Endeley.

Endeley wrapped up his second professional season with FC Dallas and North Texas SC. Let’s dive into his season and discuss whether or not we’ll see him back in Frisco next year.

Stat breakdown

We don’t have a fancy chart for Endeley but we can still break down his numbers from this season. He started off the season as a starter for FC Dallas in former head coach Nico Estevez’s new 3-4-3 formation. That run as a starter lasted one game with the first team as his minutes dwindled from 209 in 2023 to just 111 minutes in 2024.

But his time with North Texas SC exploded in 2024, as he played in 19 games (all starts) this season. He scored two goals and added four assists.

With North Texas, his passing was also pretty stellar at 87% accuracy. He forced other teams to foul him a lot (34 times) and earned one penalty kick. Defensively, he still has some growing to do as he picked up 14 interceptions, 7 blocks, and had 101 recoveries.

Highlight

Endeley’s minimal minutes with FC Dallas means we have to dip into the North Texas SC highlights for him this season. Let’s go with the first goal scored in the playoffs against Vancouver.

Should we expect him back in 2025?

The one thing going for Endeley has to be the run he’s had this year with North Texas. He’s routinely been one of the better players for the club in their 3-4-3 setup. It’s possible that is due to him being at a higher quality than most MLS NEXT Pro players.

Also, he will still be on a supplemental roster spot. That spot doesn’t count against the salary cap.

Is that all enough to retain him for another season? I think the goodwill he picked up with NTSC in 2024 will do it.

Final thoughts

I do think that Endeley’s time with North Texas SC this season could be a good litmus test as to how FC Dallas opts to handle their rebuild this offseason. Do they retain a guy that did well with their second team but struggled to break through with the first team again for another year?

That is the tough question they have to sort out with him and a couple of other guys. If they plan to bring up anyone from North Texas SC for 2025, they may need some open Supplemental roster slots to do it.

At the end of the day, I think Endeley makes sense to return in 2025 but I believe he would also be a great candidate to go out on loan to a USL-Championship team to see if he can continue to grow in a lower division that isn’t MLSNP.
