North Texas Soccer Club has signed a pair of midfielders drafted by FC Dallas in the 2020 SuperDraft, Anders Engebretsen and Derek Waldeck.
Both are pending league and U.S. Soccer Federation approval.
Engebretsen and Waldeck join the club on one-year contracts with options for the 2021 season.
Engebretsen was drafted in the fourth round (79th overall) in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft by FC Dallas. He played four seasons for Saint Mary’s College and was named to the WCC All-Academic and First Team All-West team his junior season before becoming a MAC Herman Trophy semifinalist as a senior. A native of Norway, Engebretsen played professional for Skeid Football in the Norwegian second division prior to joining St. Mary’s.
Waldeck played four seasons at Stanford before being drafted by FC Dallas in the third round (66th) overall in 2020. He won two NCAA National Championships with the Cardinal and was named to the All-Pac-12 First Team and United Soccer Coaches All-Far West Region First Team his senior year. In total, Waldeck made 89 appearances, scoring six goals and adding 22 assists.
