October is finally here. After eight months, countless miles and all the twists that come with a MLS season, FC Dallas has reached the final full month of the regular season.

October is a busy one, too. Six matches, packed into 22 days, split evenly with home and away games. Dallas gets two weird Eastern Conference matches, a final Texas Derby game, all before a Halloween game on the penultimate date of the regular season.

Dallas took full advantage of the home games in September, picking up 13 of 15 available points. October may very well be all about playoff positioning for the club.

Let’s dive into the schedule and see where the points will come from.

## Charlotte FC - away - October 10

After an international break to begin the month, Dallas will return to action with a cross-conference trip to Charlotte. This will be a weird one for Dallas after the break as they’ve never played Charlotte FC in league play, let alone played away at Charlotte.

We know Dallas has been solid on road trips this season, and will look to find a way to extend its six-game unbeaten run a bit longer into October.

**All-time road record at Charlotte**: This will be the first road game in North Carolina
**Last road win at Charlotte**: None, we’ve never played there

## Seattle Sounders - home - October 14

Four days later, Dallas is back at home for a midweek meeting with Seattle. The Sounders have been struggling a bit since the World Cup break ended, but have managed to pick up a pair of wins in recent weeks to improve their playoff chances.

These two teams know each other well. And October meetings between them have had some interesting results. With Houston looming on the weekend, you do wonder how much of a rotation Eric Quill will need to have in this one.

**All-time home record vs Seattle**: 7-5-7
**Last home win vs Seattle**: 2022, yeah four years.

## Houston Dynamo - away - October 17

In Eric Quill’s first game in charge last year, Dallas went to Houston and picked up three points. A lot has changed for both sides since that meeting, but the game still matters the same. Dallas already has Copa Tejas claimed, but snagging the Texas Derby is even more important. Especially with both clubs so close in the standings.

**All-time road record at Houston**: 5-10-11
**Last road win at Houston**: 2025

## San Jose Earthquakes - home - October 24

After a busy week, Dallas gets a full week to recover before hosting the Quakes. San Jose had a couple of months going into and coming out of the World Cup where they were struggling but lately have seemed to find a new gear. San Jose has always been a tricky team for Dallas to put away at home, too.

**All-time home record vs San Jose**: 13-13-10
**Last home win vs San Jose**: 2024

## Columbus Crew - home - October 28

The final home match before Decision Day brings Columbus to Frisco for a weird late-season East-West matchup. These two sides don’t battle much these days, but there is history there. Dallas *could* have a playoff spot secured by this point (at least we hope they do), but it has been a long while since Dallas has picked up three full points at home against the Crew. Time to change that.

**All-time home record vs Columbus**: 12-6-6
**Last home win at Columbus**: 2011…yeah not playing them annual means we haven’t had a home win over them in ages

## Sporting KC - away - October 31

The penultimate match of the regular season, a mid-afternoon battle on Halloween no less. We saw a few weeks ago how dangerous this new-look Sporting team is and with a few more games together, they’re going to be even tougher to deal with. The good news is that Sporting *should* already be eliminated from playoff contention at this point, but we can’t take them for granted.

**All-time road record at SKC**: 13-17-9
**Last road win at SKC**: 2025

## Outlook

I rather hate that two of the three home games are midweek matches. Yeah, something about that doesn’t sit right with me. But it is what we’re working with this month.

October isn’t really about setting a points expectation. Six games, 18 points, yadda yadda yadda. You all know what is really at stake here for the Hoops. It is more than just securing a playoff spot early in the month. It is all about securing one of the top four slots in the Western Conference.

You want those home games come November. You need those home games come November.

Win those three games at home and you stand a good chance of getting there. If you add in four or five points away from home, even better.
