Goals from Franco Jara and Jesus Ferreria weren’t enough for FC Dallas on Saturday night as they lost 3-2 to Real Salt Lake.

RSL got second-half goals from Albert Rusnak and Jonathan Mendez as they came from behind to secure the three points and stay ahead of FC Dallas in the playoff race.

Jara got the scoring started on the night early on for FC Dallas in the 19th minute. Ferreira found the veteran forward in the penalty box and he was able to poke it into the back of the net for his fourth of the season.

RSL came back right before halftime with a goal from Justen Glad as he headed home a cross from defender Aaron Herrera to level the game. The host took control at the start of the second half with goals from Rusnak and Mendez.

Ferreira worked hard to get FCD back in this one as he went on his own in the penalty box to beat a couple of defenders before firing a rocket of a shot into the back of the net in the 80th minute.

Instant Reaction: This was certainly a game that you could see that FC Dallas was lacking some quality across the pitch. It wasn’t just the loss of Ricardo Pepi up top or Szabolcs Schon on the wings, it was also not having someone like Jimmy Maurer in goal. The injuries and callups forced some changes in the lineup that just didn’t pan out as we’re seeing more and more that Jara isn’t a great starter for this team and guys like Jader Obrian actually get worse with him on the pitch.

But in all, the team struggled like we’ve seen time and time again this season on the road. The defense was really poor again as they gave up three goals for the second game in a row. Something has to change there and fast.

Man of the Match: Gotta give it to Ferreira for the goal and assist on the night.

What’s next for FC Dallas: The club returns home next weekend as they host an important must-win game against San Jose.
