FC Dallas and Nashville SC battle long rain delay in a scoreless draw

209 minute rain delay makes it the longest in club history. Yikes.

FC Dallas picked up their second draw of the season in a 0-0 affair with Nashville SC. The two sides had to deal with the longest rain delay in FC Dallas history, clocking in at 209 minutes.

The visitors once again gave FC Dallas fits on the night but were unable to best goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer. The expansion side had 21 shots on the night, including seven on target that forced Maurer into some solid saves. Dallas only managed one on target the entire evening.

The closest anyone came to scoring on the night was in the 64th minute as former FC Dallas attacker Dominique Badji found space behind the defense and managed to beat Maurer only to find the post instead of the back of the net.

Instant reaction - Long delay or not, the energy in the attack wasn’t there again on this evening. Luchi Gonzalez opted for a more familiar look on the night with a 4-3-3 kind of look, though at times it was really a 4-2-2-2 kind of deal with the way some of the guys were lining up. Either way, it didn’t pan out or find ways to beat Nashville, who to their credit, played some good soccer this week in Frisco.

Man of the Match - Mauer, it is hands down for me that Maurer was the best on the night with all the saves to keep the game level. But it shouldn’t have been that hard of a night for him.

What’s next for FC Dallas - A trip to Houston on Friday. If anything is going to reboot their season, it could be a rivalry game.
