The third installment of the Texas Derby goes orange as a ten-man Houston Dynamo downed FC Dallas 2-0.

Houston made the first breakthrough in the 19th minute as Darwin Quintero got on the end of an Ariel Lassiter pass that cut through the Dallas defense.

The Dynamo nearly doubled their lead in the 33rd minute had it not been for a double-save by Dallas keeper Jimmy Maurer. First on a a shot from Mauro Manotas and then a header from Sam Junqua.

Houston was reduced to ten men just before the end of the first half as Mauro Manotas was issued a red card after a video review on a tackle of Andres Ricarute.

Dallas’ best chance came in the 70th minute on a counter attack lead by Fafa Picault as he raced up the field with the ball and then sent a curling ball into the penalty box to Jesus Ferreira who tired to volley it into the back of the net but missed high.

Houston doubled their lead in the 82nd minute on a penalty kick by Darwin Cerén thanks to a video review call on a foul by Bryan Reynolds.

Instant Reaction: Where do we begin on this one? Defensively in the first half, FC Dallas looked all out of sorts on both with pace and movement which helped secure the Houston goal. After the red card, it we would see more chance on goal but it looked like the team was all out of sorts yet again, even with the extra space. This is certainly a game Luchi Gonzalez will want to move on from quickly but these games that they should be winning like this one, are adding up as dropped points.

Man of the Match: Hard to really pinpoint a great game by anyone in this one but you could give it to someone like Ricaurte or Ryan Hollingshead and be fine.

What’s next for FC Dallas: The quick return continues to happen here as the guys will be back at home on Sunday evening as they host Minnesota United.
