Despite being outshot 24-8 on the night, FC Dallas will take a scoreless draw against Real Salt Lake back home with them as they continue to remain above the playoff line with four games to go in the regular season.

Real Salt Lake dominated the first half in this game, outshooting FC Dallas 18-2 with three solid attempts on goal that forced Jimmy Maurer to come up big including one in the 40th minute by Damir Kreilach. RSL also hit the woodwork a couple time in the opening 45 minutes while Dallas only got forward on a couple of occasions.

Dallas only had two real chances on goal in the entire game, with one coming off a Bressan crossbar miss in the 17th minute, and the being the first actual attempt on goal from Michael Barrios in the 60th minute.

Instant Reaction: Yes, the offense was extremely poor on the night, especially after getting blown out earlier in the week at Nashville. But, you do have to take some sort of solace in knowing that the defense can rise to the occasion here and pitch a shutout in a tough environment. At least that portion of the game looks like a team that will do well in the playoffs. The offense on the other hand just looks all out of whack these days. When it is good, there is some fluid nature about it. We’re just not there these days.

Man of the Match: You know it was a long night when the goalkeeper gets this nod, but Maurer come up huge for FC Dallas on the night.

What’s next for FC Dallas: We’re back in action on Wednesday night as we’ll host Inter Miami for the first time.
