Nashville started the game with lots of energy and speed that gave the Dallas defense fits all night long. The hosts were able to take a lead fairly early through Randall Leal, who scored in the 19th minute. Derrick Jones laid the ball off towards Leal, who took a shot from outside the penalty box that hit FC Dallas defender Reto Ziegler on the way into the back of the net.
Dallas struggled on offense and failed to find an equalizer as they couldn’t place a shot on target in the first half and only managed two by the end of the game.
Nashville continued to score off deflections. Jhonder Cadiz scored his first MLS goal in the 73rd minute, when a shot from outside of the box took a deflection off of Bressan. Then 15 minutes later, Daniel Rios danced his way around Ziegler in the penalty box before scoring from an angle.
Instant Reaction: This was certainly a night that Dallas failed to make anything count. The first two goals were unfortunate given the deflections but you have to give Nashville credit for taking those chances around the penalty box, where Dallas did not.
Also, there was a lot of discussion about the Dallas DPs last night and how they’re letting the young group down. Franco Jara was not pleased when he was subbed off in the second half, while Bryan Acosta once again had a night that we’ll want to forget as quickly as possible.
Man of the Match: Uh...hard pass on this one.
What’s next for FC Dallas: We’re back in action this weekend as FC Dallas remains on the road again as they visit Real Salt Lake for the first time in 2020.
