This rumor has been in the works for longer than we thought...

MLS: FC Dallas at New York City FC Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Wednesday’s announcement that FC Dallas was looking to send midfielder Mauro Diaz to an unnamed club in the Middle East certainly caught a lot of us by surprise.

After some digging around, we’ve now learned that the club in question is Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai FC in Dubai.

After some super Internet investigating by our own Mo Bushnaq, we found that this transfer deal has been at least in the works for three weeks.

Yes, nearly a month has gone by since this tweet hit the web. Given that it is in Arabic, a lot of us completely missed it adding yet another weird wrinkle to all of this. The tweet above basically states that Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai FC has entered into talks with Argentine midfielder Mauro Diaz.

Knowing that the exit physical has already been done, it appears that the summer transfer window is going to be a hot one for FC Dallas fans to watch over. We’ll continue to keep you all up to date on this as we get new information.
