Report: Could FC Dallas make a play for Cyle Larin?

Is FC Dallas going to splash some cash on the former Orlando City star?

Boy the summer transfer window is heating up. Maybe it is the high temperatures outside here in Dallas or maybe it is something else. Either way, things are getting hot.

After yesterday’s rumor with FC Dallas midfielder Mauro Diaz leaving for the Middle East, today we get one about a player that could be coming in, or in this case back to MLS.

Yes, these are reports out of Europe that former Orlando City forward Cyle Larin could be a target for FC Dallas this summer.

Larin was sold to Beşiktaş in Turkey back in January of this year, after refusing to show up to practice with Orlando City, with whom he was still under contract. During his time in Turkey this year he played in just four games, scoring four goals.

The Canadian international saw his market value drop a lot this spring because of the lack of playing with Besiktas. His original transfer out of Orlando was reported as being north of $2.3 million. Orlando was able to keep that entire transfer fee due to all the shenanigans that Besiktas played during the deal (sound familiar with Fabian Castillo?).

So given that he has fallen out of favor in Turkey, and FC Dallas could really use a good MLS-proven scorer like Larin, what would be a reasonable amount for him? Hard to say, but with the transfer of Nedyalkov and potentially Diaz adding to the club’s coffers, anything may be possible right now.
