Report: Millonarios rejects FC Dallas’ offer for keeper Nicolas Vikonis

FC Dallas’ pursuit of a third keeper continues on.

We’re nearly a month into the season for FC Dallas (if you are including Champions League) and the search for a third goalkeeper to round out the roster continues on. Today there were reports in South America that the club recently offered to get Uruguayan keeper Nicolas Vikoni from Millonarios, only to see the request rejected.

FC Dallas wanted to get Vikoni on loan with a potential buyout of roughly a $1 million. A pretty steep price for a keeper in Major League Soccer.

Now FCD will reportedly search for another keeper within the Colombian top flight.

It is possible this isn’t the first time FCD put in an offer for Vikoni either. At the end of February, FCD tried to bring the keeper in on loan with the buyout offer being around $600k. That offer was also rejected.

FCD also tried back in January to get Julio Chiarini from Club Atletico Sarmiento in Argentina. But that rumor seemed to fizzle once the club trained in Argentina during the preseason.

It seems a little crazy to me that FCD wants to spend a fairly decent amount on an keeper that will also take up an international roster slot. Which by the way, they’ll have to trade to get another one right now as they’re at the maximum limit of eight.

What do you all make of these rumors?
