According to Univision, there have been reports coming out of Ecuador and Mexico that the skilled attacker, Fidel Martinez’s future in Liga MX has come to an end with MLS as his preferred league of choice.

FC Dallas is linked as a potential destination, thanks to the club’s ties with fellow Ecuadorian, Carlos Gruezo. Real Salt Lake is also linked in part to having Joao Plata, as are the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Martinez would certainly be an interesting pick up for the league, and FC Dallas. A quick look at his YouTube highlight package definitely shows off his flair for the attacking side of the ball.

The 27-year old attacker does have a bit of a “mercenary” tag to him though, as he’s not stayed at one club for more than a year in the last five seasons. This doesn’t seem like the kind of player FC Dallas would go after, but then again, this club did bring in Roland Lamah who’s a very well traveled player as well.

Naturally, take all of this with a grain of salt. We’re in the thick of “silly season”, and it’s not surprising to find FC Dallas linked with many players during this time.
