We can all agree that Maximiliano Urutti had a superb year as FC Dallas’ starting striker; however, was it enough to warrant a move to Barcelona?
According to Pases Ecuador, a Twitter account that reports on Ecuadorian soccer, Dallas’ number nine has been offered a deal by the Ecuadorian side Barcelona S.C., not to be confused with the more popular Barcelona FC.
Besides the initial rumor that stated that the Ecuadorian first division side had offered Urutti a deal, no other information was provided by Pases Ecuador.
Barcelona SC, who was created by Eutimio Perez, a Spanish immigrant who named the club after his hometown, currently rests as the top club in the country. The 91-year-old side had recently won its fifteenth league title, earning themselves a spot into next year’s 2017 Copa Libertadores Group Stage.
Barcelona SC primarily contracts Ecuadorian players, only having one Brazilian, one Argentinian, and one Uruguayan along with 25 Ecuadorians on the roster. Maybe the club’s one and only Argentine, Damian Diaz, has some unknown relationship with Urutti, resulting in the FC Dallas forward to potentially mull over the option.
With no other news outlets reporting on this rumor, Urutti’s transfer away from Dallas seems far fetched.
What do you make of the South American Barcelona chasing after Urruti?
