It was a warm but breezy day in North Texas this past Saturday, with an early afternoon kickoff meaning the sun was hitting the stands at full blast. The wretched Houston Dynamo were visiting, with a team full of ex-FCD players. While the game was bad, felt this would be an excellent opportunity to complain about the lack of free parking. Also, the game wasn’t that great to be honest, unfortunately.
Ex-FCD Players Everywhere!
Literally three of them in the starting lineup for the Houston Dynamo. Maxi Urruti, Maynor Figueroa, and Fafa Picault. It was kinda nice seeing them all again, and even though they mostly didn’t pose a threat, they still helped the Dynamo grab a point from their only visit over here to Frisco. Although, yelling at each of them when they messed up was fun for the duration of the game.
Pay For Parking Everywhere!
With parking being difficult back when there was a full house, even when it was free, there seems to be a capitalization on the few people committed enough to actually go to the games during reduced capacity. That capitalization is on the parking. I can’t believe we’re paying for parking in an area that for years was free parking. That was supposedly one of the benefits of having a stadium so far away from downtown Dallas.
It’s like, do they want to put another obstacle up in the way of getting fans to Toyota Stadium? Are they doing this because there’s reduced capacity so they believe the fans are going to pay regardless? Or do they think that the attendance is so low anyway that it doesn’t matter if they charge for parking because they believe we’ve already hit the attendance floor and there’s no way it could go lower?
And finally, your fan quote of the afternoon: “I hear I-45 isn’t that busy if you want to go back home.”
Do you think FC Dallas decided to charge for parking cause they know the floor has already been reached? What do you think about the pay for parking? What did you think about seeing our former players wearing that ugly Houston uniform? Let me know in the comments below!
