— Portland Timbers (@TimbersFC) May 1, 2021
FC Dallas returns home this weekend for the first of a two-game set at Toyota Stadium as they host the Portland Timbers.
Both sides are coming into this match on different paths as FC Dallas has struggled to start the season with just one goal in two games. While the Timbers have played a little more this season due to their involvement in the Concacaf Champions League. They picked up their first win of the season last weekend over Houston.
FC Dallas notes:
Key player for FC Dallas - Jader Obrien - This could be a good weekend for both Obrien and Freddy Vargas to get behind the defense and show exactly why the club brought them on board.
Last time against Portland - We all remember it well, as FC Dallas went to Oregon in the MLS Cup playoffs to battle the Timbers. After giving up a goal, FCD came back thanks to a late Ricardo Pepi goal before winning the game in penalty kicks.
Slow start - FC Dallas has collected just one point from its first two matches, its worst start to a season since 2011 (also 1 point). The one goal through two matches is also the worst scoring start to a season for FC Dallas since 2011 (also 1 goal).
Oh-for-May - Luchi Gonzalez has a 0-4-1 record and 0.100 winning percentage during May.
