The home finale is here and while the season has been dreadful for FC Dallas there is something to play for as they host Austin FC.
The two sides meet for the third time to decide who will end the 2021 season with the Copa Tejas crown. Currently, FC Dallas sits tied with Houston at eight points, with Austin at six points. The Dynamo have played all of their Copa Tejas games, setting up the winner-takes-all situation on Saturday in Frisco. A draw or win gives it to Dallas, while a loss will tip it over to Austin.
FC Dallas notes:
Key player for FC Dallas - Ricardo Pepi - He’s been hot this season against the expansion side from Austin. Let’s keep that going.
Last time out against Austin - It was a wild one, to say the least, with Pepi and Jesus Ferreira leading the charge in a 5-3 win down in Austin. Dallas won the other meeting in Frisco earlier this season, 2-0.
Wrong side of history - FC Dallas saw its winless run extend to 10 matches (D4 L6) after conceding a pair of late goals in a 2-1 loss to Real Salt Lake on Wednesday. Dallas has recorded just two longer winless runs in club history, going 11 straight in June-August 2013 and 13 straight in April-July 2012.
