FC Dallas wrapped up their 2021 MLS SuperDraft with four more picks in the second and third round on Thursday afternoon.
In the 2nd Round, the club selected goalkeeper Colin Shutler from the University of Virginia. With third-string keeper Kyle Zobeck currently on the sideline with an injury for a few more weeks, drafting a keeper isn’t a terrible option here, especially when you look down the line at North Texas SC and their lack of options in goal.
In the 3rd round, the club had three picks close together including two in a row. With those picks, FC Dallas selected Thibaut Jacquel, Mark Salas, and Giovanni Montesdeoca.
Jacquel is a defender from Campbell University. He was rated 75 on Top Drawer Soccer’s final big board ahead of the draft.
Salas and Montesdeoca are both names that some FC Dallas fans may be familiar with thanks to their ties to the academy teams. Both went to the University of North Carolina and will add some depth to the defense midfield, respectively. Salas was also a player that had potential for a Homegrown player spot at one point or another.
What do you make of the picks from Dallas today? Happy to see some familiar faces get a chance here? Are you disappointed by any of the picks?
