Thank you for voting Bryan Reynolds as our Workhorse of the Week for his tidy performances. Great stuff from the youngster!
FC Dallas had a tough beginning to the restart of play, with COVID-19 positive tests, quarantine, and then two stinkers at home against newly minted expansion side Nashville. A few fans panicked. We asked questions of Luchi Gonzalez and of this team. To be fair, they weren’t playing great and deserved some criticism.
Weeks later, it’s a different story, ain’t it?
FC Dallas took care of business at home against Colorado Rapids behind a Santiago Mosquera hat trick and then went to Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City to snatch three tough points, sealed on a Ryan Hollingshead rebound. Their playoff picture is getting stronger every game, and the team is getting stronger every game. Those Nashville stinkers are in the rearview mirror.
The biggest story for me was that not only did Santiago give us a scintillating performance against Colorado, but the squad went into Kansas City while resting Ricaurte and managed a huge three points. FC Dallas should have some of the best depth in this league, and it shows. When youngsters like Tanner Tessmann and Bryan Reynolds can step into the first team and hold their own, you know the present and future is bright. This coming week will challenge some of that depth, but the best may still be yet to come.
Also, Franco Jara is legit.
- Can this team do it again this week?
GO HOME VERMES
Peter Vermes, you can whine all you want, but you’ve been a successful coach through tactics and by bending the rules for most of your career. Your teams know how to kill time at the end of the game. You often whine even after a win. Stop complaining, grow up, and get your team to play better.
- Does Coach Vermes need to wash his mouth out with soap?
GREAT WEEK IN FCD HISTORY
With 6 points across play, this would have been a solid week for the franchise as is.
Add in Weston McKennie getting the start at Juventus alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, Johan Gomez getting the start at Porto B, Reggie Cannon making his official debut with Boavista, and Chris Richards getting first team minutes with Bayern Munich.... This was an incredible week for the FC Dallas academy and organization.
Europe, you better be scouting these Frisco kids.
- Who do you think is making the case for the next one to be transferred across the pond?
Who to vote for?
You have a nice set of options for Workhorse of the Week. Do you go on the defensive side with guys like Matt Hedges, Reto Ziegler, Ryan Hollingshead, John Nelson, and Bryan Reynolds? They all played solid shifts this past week. Or do you look to the midfield with Thiago Santos and Tanner Tessmann putting in solid shifts?
For me, it was Tanner’s week. The kid is legit, and he is growing in confidence in every game, splitting defenders with some skills and movement. I love this kid!
