Luchi Gonzalez went back to a preferred 4-3-3 last weekend in the 2-1 win over the Houston Dynamo in the Texas Derby. Andres Ricaurte was a big reason for the win with his first goal in a Dallas uniform. He and Franco Jara linked up well in the attack, while also opening some doors for Michael Barrios to be productive as well. Jesus Ferreira was on the bench for the last game, so could he find a way back into the lineup tomorrow night to give someone a breather?
Gonzalez also stated in his weekly press conference that Bryan Acosta, Jimmy Maurer and Fafa Picault are still on the injury list going into Wednesday’s game (all three could be available this weekend in KC though). Newly signed goalkeeper Phelipe Megiolaro is in full training as of Tuesday, though it could still be early before he sees the field over Kyle Zobeck.
Defensively, Dallas was able to get Matt Hedges back from a concussion protocol that forced him out of a game in Kansas City a couple of weeks ago. It will be interesting to see if he continues to go with four in the back now that Bryan Reynolds is looking more and more comfortable on the right wing after Reggie Cannon’s transfer to Boavista in Portugal. Could he get a breather as well in place of John Nelson, who showed well in a couple of games recently too.
Here is what we know in terms of availability for Wednesday’s game (some of the loaned players could end up not being on loan, some of those are fluid each week):
OUT: Paxton Pomykal (hip), Fafa Picault (hamstring), Bryan Acosta (undisclosed), Jimmy Maurer (undisclosed)
LOAN: Francis Atuahene (San Diego Loyal), Pablo Aranguiz (La U), Callum Montgomery (San Antonio FC), Ema Twumasi (Austin Bold)
