The team had so many injuries on it’s trip up north.

MLS: FC Dallas at Minnesota United FC Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

FC Dallas went up to Minnesota this past Wednesday, and if you missed watching the match then you didn’t miss too much. Andres Ricaute and Dante Sealy made appearances which was cool, but the offense wasn’t totally the problem this game. With a cold front coming through, it looked extra cold up north and may have helped the home team a little. Or maybe it was Luchi’s terrible choice in formation...

Luchi Tactics

We sort of got this under Oscar Pareja at times as well. Just a random shift in tactics that seemed to get us into a whole mess of trouble in a game. Just seemed to over-complicate or experiment in certain games and this was one of those with Luchi rolling out a back line of three defenders. It may have had to do with the ridiculous amount of injuries we had going into this game. Hard to know if we could’ve just started the game playing in the 4-3-3 FC Dallas switched into later in the game, we’ll never know...

Injuries Hurt

While watching the game, you almost memorized who was all missing from the line up. Matt Hedges and Jimmy Maurer missing from our line up may have been too much. We need Matt out there, and although it was amazing to see Kyle Zobeck get his first MLS start, Jimmy’s experience may have been sorely missed in commanding the backline. It was actually pretty frustrating to sit there and watch until we got it later in the second half. If we can do what we were doing towards the end of the game then maybe the rest of the season won’t look as scary as it does right now.

And finally, your fan quote of the night: “I think Luchi needs to change the game plan. #DTID” - @NathanVance1

Should we be playing different formations when injuries occur, or go next man up with our usual formation? Do you think this was a problem of injuries, or should our depth be enough to take on Minnesota United? What did you think of Ricaurte’s play? Let me know in the comments below!
