Squad Selection: How will injuries impact FC Dallas’ lineup against Sporting KC?

FC Dallas looks to find another rare win in Kansas City.

We’ve made it to September folks. Usually that means the start of a playoff push but we’re really just getting started here on this weird 2020 season. FC Dallas is back in action tomorrow night as they hit the road for the first of two straight road games, first up against Sporting Kansas City.

Last weekend, Luchi Gonzalez went back to what has typically worked for him over the years with a 4-3-3 look. How he’ll go tomorrow night remains a bit of a mystery given how the injuries that have now popped up are going to affect things.

So will he continue to go with the 4-3-3 or opt back to the 3-5-2 look that we’ve seen him try out more and more this season? Also, who will start up top this time around? Last weekend it was Zdenek Ondrasek over Franco Jara. Also, we saw Michael Barrios come off the bench after Ricardo Pepi earned his first start. Do we get more of that again?

Lastly, with Reggie Cannon likely not available again, will we get the first glimpse of his potential replacement in Bryan Reynolds?

Here is what we know in terms of availability for Wednesday’s game (some of the loaned players could end up not being on loan, some of those are fluid each week):

OUT: Paxton Pomykal (hip), Fafa Picault (hamstring)

LOAN: Francis Atuahene (San Diego Loyal), Pablo Aranguiz (La U), Callum Montgomery (San Antonio FC), Ema Twumasi (Austin Bold)

Note: Andres Ricaurte and Phelipe Megiolaro aren’t available for selection just. Megiolaro is wrapping up a quarantine period, while Ricaurte has begun training with the club. Cannon is also unavailable again as he is completing his transfer to Portuguese side Boavista.
