Last night was definitely something new. But so has this entire year when you really think about it. Five games in MLS canceled in protest. The postponements come in the wake of an earlier decision by the NBA to postpone three games on Wednesday after the Milwaukee Bucks refused to take the court, in response to the Blake shooting and the two killings during the ensuing protests.
FC Dallas and the Colorado Rapids were set to take the field last night but both agreed that things going on in the world are bigger than a game of soccer.
Instead of a bunch of links, I’m going to offer up a bunch of Tweets from last night instead. We’ll get back to our regularly scheduled write ups on FC Dallas when the time feels right.
We fully support the actions today of our peers in @MLS, @NBA , @WNBA & @MLB . #MLSisBlack pic.twitter.com/n5iJAih4fV

We made a decision together as players and staffs to not play our game tonight because there’s more happening in our country to distract our minds to soccer. This is the first time I can agree to the saying “it’s just a game” #BlackLivesMatter pic.twitter.com/bdQs2ZXcKb

We, THE PLAYERS, decided to not play tonight. Some things are bigger than soccer and things need to change. We are together in this no matter the color. #BlackLivesMatter pic.twitter.com/GROGG15Af3

Black humans made in the image of God being treated like they are not.... this has to change. Some things are bigger than soccer. https://t.co/kumgAUJHKg
