East Stand View: Another Game, Another Bore

At least we didn’t have to watch during the middle of the night like the Nashville game.

MLS: FC Dallas at Houston Dynamo Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

You may have felt deja vu while watching this game. The third game in a row with no goals, although, this time we were in a different city. Another difference was that the Houston Dynamo decided that no fans would probably be best for this game. This game really showcased how rusty these two teams and makes you wonder what exactly FC Dallas is practicing on all week. First we’ll chat about the venue our boys went to go visit this past Friday.

BBVA Stadium

Or BBVA Compass Stadium, whichever name you remember or prefer. The front office of our main rivals made a good decision by not allowing any fans into the stadium during this pandemic. Showed nice restraint and kept their fans safe and at home during a health crisis. It really didn’t take away from the atmosphere, the fact that the 1,200 fans were missing and didn’t cause any distractions either.

Although, the pitch was pretty ugly to watch for over 90 minutes. Guessing maintenance hasn’t been on the top of each team’s list during COVID times. And from the product we saw on the field from both teams, training doesn’t seem to have been a top priority either.

Rusty Teams or Bad Training?

This one was a hard one to watch. But so have the past two games for the hoops. Not sure if we’re practicing play out from the back, but we are really floundering in that part of the game. It’s frustrating to watch and just makes for a fairly ugly game. It’s not just the poor attempts at advancing up field, but almost like there’s no sense of urgency from the team and play at a pace that has fans yelling at their TV.

That’s not even mentioning the fact that we’ve gone all three come back games without scoring a goal. Hopefully soon we are able to are to experience such a joy soon. Until then we just have to rely on our defense and Jimmy’s incredible performances between the sticks for any hope.

And finally, your fan quote of the night: “We look like we could go without scoring the rest of the season. There’s literally no threat.” - /u/NextDoorNeighbrrs

Do you think Houston made the right decision by not allowing fans into the stadium? Any one else just want to push reset on the comeback games, or do you think we’ll come out stronger? Did you fall asleep during this game? Let me know in the comments below!
