FC Dallas vs Houston Dynamo: Game Thread

Here is your thread for today’s match.

MLS: FC Dallas at Houston Dynamo Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Paxton and Brandon showing well...still scoreless though

Jimmy keeping things level like he does

The first leg of the 2020 Texas Derby is here as FC Dallas travels down to battle the Houston Dynamo for a Friday night clash.

FC Dallas is coming off two games against Nashville where they struggled to get any offense going. The Dynamo are coming off a rough outing at the MLS is Back tournament in Orlando that saw them go out with zero wins, two draws and a loss to the eventual champions (Portland).

FC Dallas notes:

Finding some attacking life - Nashville outshot Dallas at nearly a two-to-one clip last week in the two games in Frisco. That has to change on the road or else this season could quickly go off the rails for Luchi Gonzalez. So far the attacking combinations just haven’t worked against a team (Nashville) that defended a lot in a low block. Houston, under new manager Tab Ramos, could be what they need to get going though. The Dynamo gave up a lot of goals in Orlando and never really showed a way to clean up their defense.

Key player for FC Dallas - Franco Jara - Whether he is playing up top in a single striker role, as a #10, or as a second striker. Jara has to get going here in a Dallas uniform. This feels like it should be the game where he finds his spots but he needs service to do so.
