Squad Selection: What is FC Dallas’ best lineup to restart 2020?

Two games against Nashville in one week could call for two different looks.

The season is back on. Let that sink in for a moment folks. After a few months of waiting, wondering, coming close to a restart in Orlando, only to have it yanked away, and now a reboot. Yeah, it is weird. But that is MLS.

FC Dallas will host Nashville SC twice this week. Both teams were removed from the Orlando tournament in July due to a large outbreak of the coronavirus in both squads. Now they are making up those group stage games that they missed out on that were to count against the MLS regular season.

Luchi Gonzalez has had his team back in Frisco for the last three weeks training for this moment. They’ve done a couple of squad scrimmages, but this will be their first big test since their 2-2 draw to the Montreal Impact back in March.

Injury concerns aren’t entirely known right now. Gonzalez did mention that Brandon Servania had been out of training for the last week or so, I would imagine he’ll be out of action for this one but more of a possibility on Sunday.

The other thing thing that will be interesting to note is how the five sub rule comes in to play. The MLS benches in Orlando were larger, so we could see that carry over here as play resumes. Once we get a better idea of how that will all work, we’ll update the form below to reflect that.

Here is what we know in terms of availability for Wednesday’s game (some of the loaned players could end up not being on loan, some of those are fluid each week):

SUSPENDED:

OUT: none

QUESTIONABLE: Brandon Servania (undisclosed injury)

LOAN: Francis Atuahene (San Diego Loyal), Pablo Aranguiz (La U), Callum Montgomery (San Antonio FC), Ema Twumasi (Austin Bold)
