With two weeks to go before the MLS is Back tournament, scheduled July 8-August 11, kicks off, the league has released the schedule.
FCD will kick off the tournament on Thursday, July 9, at 9:30 pm CT against the Whitecaps. The following week on Wednesday, July 15, at 8:00 am, we will get the big rematch against the Sounders. The final group stage game will see FC Dallas take on the Earthquakes on Monday, July 20, at 8:00 pm.
All three group stage games will air on national TV with the San Jose and Vancouver games airing on Univision, with the Seattle game being shown on ESPN.
All of the matches will be broadcast nationally in the U.S. on the ESPN, FOX and Univision families of networks. ESPN will air a total of 28 matches on its networks, including the final. All ESPN matches will be streamed live on the ESPN app. All of the morning matches will be broadcast in the U.S. on ESPN and ESPN Deportes.
FOX will begin its coverage of the competition on July 11th, when it will air Atlanta United vs. the New York Red Bulls on its national, over-the-air channel. Univision’s networks will show 19 of 39 total matches in the group stage.
The league’s 26 teams were divided into six groups (five groups of four teams and one group of six teams), with every team scheduled to play three group stage games, all of which will count toward the regular season. The group stage will be followed by a 16-team knockout round, with the champion claiming a berth in 2021 CONCACAF Champions League.
