Squad Selection: Does FC Dallas make any changes for Montreal?

We saw two different formations in week one against Philadelphia. Will we see both again in week two?

MLS: Philadelphia Union at FC Dallas Andrew Dieb-USA TODAY Sports

This week FC Dallas host Thierry Henry and the Montreal Impact on Saturday afternoon at Toyota Stadium. The is the lone meeting between the two sides this season.

Last week, head coach Luchi Gonzalez had three players make their FC Dallas debut with Fafa Picault facing his former club, while Thiago Santos and Tanner Tessmann each made their MLS debut as well.

The big question coming into this week will really center around whether or not Gonzalez opts to begin this game with a 3-5-2 look or remain in his 4-3-3 look for another week. Against Philadelphia, the more defensive 3-5-2 look in the second half not only helped close out the game but it did show off a different look or two that could work against a team like Montreal.

The other question may also be as to how many minutes we will see Paxton Pomykal in this one. You have to imagine he will come off the bench again here this week, but will it be for 15 minutes again or will he get a little longer run on the field?

Everything else should look fairly similar to last week though in terms of lineup. With no major new injuries to discuss, there isn’t a reason to mix up the lineup that did well in the season opener.

Here is what we know in terms of availability for Saturday’s game (some of the loaned players could end up not being on loan, some of those are fluid each week):

OUT: Brandon Servania (knee), Bryan Acosta (appendix)

LOAN: Francis Atuahene (San Diego Loyal), Pablo Aranguiz (La U), Callum Montgomery (San Antonio FC), Ema Twumasi (Austin Bold)
