The news of the coronavirus outbreak is starting to ramp up more and more. Earlier in the week Major League Soccer announced how they would handle media and locker rooms moving forward during this time and now we’re starting to see some potential games being impacted.
Washington Gov. Jay Inslee has placed a ban on large gatherings — specifically sporting events and concerts — in Seattle (primarily the counties in and around Seattle) in response to the worsening coronavirus outbreak on Wednesday.
This could mean that the FC Dallas and Seattle Sounders playoff rematch game on March 21 could either be played behind closed doors, postponed until a later date, or worse, canceled.
Seattle isn’t the only MLS city affected by this so far. The city of Houston has also started cancelling events, meaning this weekend’s game between the Sounders and Dynamo could be in doubt. San Jose has announced they will comply with the order from Santa Clara County stating that mass gatherings of more than 1,000 people have been banned for the remainder of March.
