While there are rumors of new FC Dallas player signings, the club has announced the return of two players with new contracts for the 2021 season. Defender Bressan has agreed to terms on a new, one-year contract with club options for the 2022 and 2023 seasons and goalkeeper Phelipe Megiolaro returns to the club on loan from Grêmio through the end of the 2021 season.
FC Dallas has the option to exercise a permanent transfer on Phelipe’s contract at the end of the 2021 season following the duration of the loan. The previous loan expired at the end of the year and the ability to exercise a permanent transfer for the young keeper was reportedly around $2.5 million. This new deal helps push out the timeframe for that purchase.
Phelipe is expected to miss some time in 2021 with the Brazilian Olympic team. In recent call ups, he started in goal in Brazil’s 3-1 win against South Korea U-23 National Team on Nov. 14. He was on the bench in the 2-1 loss against Egypt on Nov. 16.
Bressan has appeared in 36 matches since he joined the club back in December of 2018. He has scored one goal and recorded three assists in 2,286 minutes played.
Both players will take up international roster slots with the team next year. Right now that puts the club at six of the eight total spots. Reto Zeigler and Santiago Mosquera’s recent departures helped open up those two slots.
