The offseason is rocking and rolling here and FC Dallas is making some deals.
The club announced Thursday that they has traded winger Fafa Picault to Houston Dynamo FC in exchange for $200,000 in 2021 General Allocation Money (GAM) and $75,000 in GAM for 2022.
FC Dallas could receive an additional $50,000 in GAM if Picault meets certain performance metrics while with the Dynamo.
The 29-year old scored three goals and recorded two assists in 20 overall appearances for FC Dallas this season. FC Dallas paid $300,000 in allocation last winter to bring Picault over from the Philadelphia Union where he spent three seasons, scoring 21 goals and snagging 12 assists in 89 regular season appearances.
Instant thoughts on the trade:
This move feels like a good bit of business given that they didn’t really lose much in terms of allocation based on the initial deal from last winter. Picault was fine in his one season with Dallas but he was never truly great.
Also, it looks like this kind of move opens up the chance for Paxton Pomykal to move to the wing next season or it really opens the door for a big offseason signing that requires some allocation money.
What do you all make of this deal?
